Petersham Village Open Gardens

May 2006

Despite the constant threat of rain the Petersham Open Gardens event on May Bank Holiday was very well attended with an estimated 1200+ visitors who enjoyed the experience of eleven very different gardens.

Thanks to everyone involved - organisers, garden owners, cake makers, tea providers and volunteers - a good time was had by all.

Results of Children's Quiz

There was a quiz for children on the garden tour where as well as answer questions about the gardens they wrote a poem or drew a picture.

Congratulations to Flora Sallis Chandler (aged 8), Sophie Clement (aged 6) and Sasha Clement (aged 8) who were all highly commended and all received some pansy seeds in recognition of their efforts!

And the winner was Frances Senn (aged 8) - she who wrote this poem.  Frances received seeds and a book of poems called A Garden of Children's Poems.

The Glass House Garden
Wonderful nature in the Glass House garden.
With sphere shaped trees
and loads and loads of buzzing bees.

Go round the corner and follow the path.
There's a fountain pond
of which you'll be very fond.

Go in and see it,
what a lovely garden!
It's one of a kind, it's a chance of a lifetime.
